Not Me! Monday

Is it already Monday again!?

My blog carnival, Not Me! Monday, has given me something fun to look forward to on the first day of each week...sharing my imperfections while pretending I actually am perfect...and checking out all of your blogs as you do the same. Because, seriously, none of us are perfect, so we may as well revel in our imperfections while amongst good company!

I am very humble and this week I am not boasting that I went over to the Riggs' blog and signed up to be in Serious.Life Magazine's featured blog directory and, in the process, submitted this post of mine and you can bet it was not chosen to be published in this month's edition of the magazine! Along with, ahem, a few of my photographs as well. And I was not pumped when I saw that, as a gift to me, Brent chose to put in a huge ad for String of Pearls because he knows I just love Laura and her organization.

I was not totally tickled pink when, upon returning from our cruise, I discovered just before bathtime one night that Small Fry's hair is now long enough for two tiny braids! And I certainly don't intend on making good on this discovery many more times in the days ahead.

Braids

This week, when MckMuffin shot a dandy blowout into his diaper and beyond, I did not resort to cutting the fatally soiled onesie off him with a scissors so that I didn't have to take the time to undress him completely. He was wearing two shirts and a sweater after all, but even I was not that unwilling to put our baby through another outfit change and would never have resorted to cutting the ever loving onesie right off him instead. That would be ridiculous.

Also, I am totally not hijacking my own blog to tell you that Claire's Super Huge Raffle has been extended and now there is the potential for two Canon Rebel prize packs to be given away, so head over there asap to win yourself a camera and goodies as well as support Claire's adoption!

When cleaning up toys on the living room floor in a manic fashion late last night, I most certainly not come across a grape on the floor and just toss it into the toy bin as well because I really didn't give a rip at that point. Nope, not me!

During some of MckMuffin's fussy times this past week, I never once contemplated what would happen if I put a teeny bit of Nutella on the end of his pacifier.

When MckNugget spilled his milk the other day and began to cry, I didn't tell him "There's no use crying over spilled milk, Sweetheart," and then struggle to breathe for the next few seconds because I was laughing so hard at how funny I thought I was while our MSC just looked at me like I had lost my marbles and wondered why I didn't start sopping up the milk, or at least MckNugget's tears, with a towel. I didn't proceed, instead, to grab my camera so I could capture the miniature meltdown. Not me! That would be just cruel.

CryingOverSpilledMilk

There is also absolutely no way in the world I'd ever admit that one of the very first things Big Mac said to me, within the first 5 minutes of being home again after our cruise, was "Mama! Your tummy is so big!" That did not happen and, even if it did, I would never tell Big Mac about how I ate too much on our cruise and I'd certainly never then admit that to all of you! Not me!

But, all kidding aside, I actually am perfect and I cloth diaper our babies every single day. I certainly am not lazy at all and you won't catch me admitting that I've been choosing disposables more often than not these days. I also never let our stash of size 6 disposables run completely out and am then forced with the decision to use cloth or a makeshift diaper. And I certainly did not choose a makeshift diaper for Small Fry yesterday, fashioned from two size 1 diapers, since there were no bigger disposables in the house. Nope. And I'm also certainly not doing the same thing today since I still haven't made it to Target. Not me!! I am the epitome of the perfect cloth diapering mama and don't ever let anyone tell you differently!!

TwoDiapers

What about you? Won't you play along this week, too?

And, for real, you guys have proven that you have the Not Me! Monday thing down pat so I am not going to bombard you with rules any more!! If, however, you are new to this, need a refresher, or if you find I had to delete your post, you might want to check out the updated official rules for participation to make sure you're doing things correctly. For help with creating a link, if you don't know how, just copy everything in this white box below and paste it into your post.

That's all there is to it. Happy Not Me-ing!!

For not being with your MSC for most of the week you really had an intresting Not ME Monday! I LOVE Small Fry's braids!

1. I loved the grape in the toybox story.
2. In reference to your crying over spilled milk story, we've been playing a lot of alphabet bingo lately, and I have a problem every time Q for Quarter comes up and one of the kids yells "I have a quarter!" to not respond with "good, call someone who cares".
3. Cloth-diaper avoiding or not, I think you're a genius for figuring out how to hook two small diapers together to make a functional bigger diaper. Now, just don't admit to everyone when you start sticking overnight maxipads to the inside of your baby's onesie to keep their jammies dry overnight. That just sounds low-class and lazy and certainly not like something I've ever done!

Love you site, lots of laughs

I totally did NOT rip a onesie off one of the kids at my work the other day too. Surely I did NOT just use my bare hands, I must have been civilized and use scissors. The explosion was NOT so bad that it took two of us to clean him while he smiled as we gagged.

Don't you just love how COMPLETELY honest little kids are without regards to feelings!!! Love it! Makeshift diaper instead of saying lazy I would call it INGENIUS AND RESOURCEFUL! Hey I never knew they even made size 6 diapers and I had two kids....one of those things that make you go hmm.....

JD said...

I did not duct tape a diaper together when the kids were little, just because I didn't want to waste the one with the ripped tab... no, not me!!

And when Josh sleptwalked again a few nights ago, I did not wish I had my own double diaper contraption, for I did not need it, from laughing too hard... Oh no, never me. Ever.

Welcome back, MckMama!!! As soon as my laptop comes out of it's hard-drive-crash-induced-coma, I'll share the video of Josh opening his surprise in the mail!!! VIDEO? No, I most certainly did not torture, uh, make him wait by charging the camcorder before opening it, I mean, it's not like we were going to video tape this or anything... it's not like it was a huge event at our house, for example, we didn't have a minimum of 5 people and 2 animals eagerly, anxiously watching as he opened the envelope this weekend... I didn't even clear off and wash down the table just for the occasion. Nope, not me! You wouldn't think we felt like we were watching the Oscars or Emmys... everyone on the edge of their seats, holding their breath as the envelope is ripped open, announcing what awaits inside... no, not us. Not on a Friday night either, like, really, people... we are party animals on Friday nights!

And he most certainly did not completely FREAK OUT.

I'll let you know when I get it uploaded :)

Hi,

I have been enjoying your blog for a couple months now.

Hearing about you, your husband and children bless me tremendously.

I am the mother of 4 children as well. When I brought my 4th baby home my oldest was 2 1/2. Yep, my second pregnancy was twins. All four girls. They are now 18, 19, 19, and 21.

I absolutely loved the little stage. Loved it. It so far has been my favorite. However, this week we received two calls from gentlemen. One asking to court one of our daughters and the other asking about courting. It seems we are moving into a stage that might be as much fun!

I homeschooled them through high school which wasn't my plan but has become a very precious time for me.

Anyway, thank you for uplifting my spirits with your mothering joys and little Stellan received many prayers from me, well, actually God received them.

God bless you.

My husband is going to be so happy when I tell him about the onesie incident. I have a 4month old son and when he was about 2 months old, my husband was watching him while I ran last minute Christmas errands. I called to see how things were going and I was told of this "huge blowout" my munchkin just had. It was "so bad" that my husband was forced to cut the onesie off of him. I have given him a ton of grief over this. For 3 reasons - 1) It wasn't that bad of a blowout. Probably the biggest my hubby had seen but a ways from the worse there had ever been. 2) It was my absolutely favorite NB onesie! and 3) He did not use nice safe scissors like you did - He used his pocket knife! Needless to say he was given a quick lesson on how to remove a dirty onesie without destroying it!

Liz said...

I am so gonna cut my kids shirt off the next time he has a blow out.....He had a blowout today and ended up with poop all over his back and in his hair when I had to lift the shirt over his head. YUCK....I am always so grateful for all of your wonderful child-rearing ideas :) Gonna file away the diaper one too for later use.. Happy Monday. You made my day with your visit and comment!

My little girl, who just turned 1 last month is sick a little bit. But last night, it was my older one who cried and needed me to get up. I didn't not get up on his bunk bed, to sleep there, so he would keep sleeping. And I did not tell him to just use his hands, when he asked for a kleenex, because if I get down to get a kleenex I would probably wake up our sick girl, who was already making some noise. No, no, no, no, no. NO way, I could have ever done that and then in the middle of the night, think about "NotMe Monday" and still can't believe what I didn't just asked my almost 3-year-old to do, but then just second later laugh because it gives me something to share with you today.

And I didn't just get jealous, because "Small Fry's hair is now long enough for two tiny braids" and I can't even put a little clip in my wonderful 1-year old girls hair. Because I would never compare my kids with other kids.

McKMama: I'm excited you had such a wonderful vacation and I'm honestly very happy for you and not jealous (and this a difficult word to write for me as a German-speaker)

Happy Monday!

I didn't realize how much I check your blog and Twitters until you were away! Glad to have you back. And my friends and I all fell out of our chairs laughing reading the post about Small Fry's tantrum. We all agreed that it was so funny because it hit a little too close to home. Our friend who doesn't have kids did not think it was quite as funny as we. I think she was more horrified. Just wait dear friend!

Thanks for being a bright spot in my day! God bless!

Very ingenious diaper strategy! I myself am trying to enjoy cloth diapering as much as I can, after recently switching from disposables. For me it's more $$ motivated than anything else. My Not Me's are up!! I love the makeshift diaper! I cannot believe that Small Fry wears size 6 diapers already...WOW!

Misty said...

Ok, I did my first Not Me post on my blog. And I couldn't get the button to work, it kept giving me fits, so I just left it out :)

Mrs. Gutierrez said...

WHAT in the world is up with that diaper contraption?! That's the funniest thing I've ever seen. :) ha ha ha! Did you really mean that you use size 6 on Small Fry? Because that's really big, isnt it?

Anyway, that's for a good ol belly laugh this morning!

Shosh said...

Alright, i dont really even get what you did with those diapers but it looks extremely resourceful!

What a list! I loved that you cut the onesie off. It reminded me of one that I might should have posted. I just thew away my son's socks because they were so saturated in mud. Really, why would I waste the time trying to salvage some sticky socks!?
You always make me laugh! I love the desparate diapers. Hilarious!

my 4 month old son sleeps in a miracle blanket. my motherly instincts tells me that it is time to stop swaddling him. how did you do this with small fry?
also, do any of your children suck on a pacifier? how do you break them of this habit?

Hailey said...

Small Fry's hair= I LOVE IT! Too cute!

PS- The hubs is planning a 5 day 4 night cruise for us. After seeing and hearing about yours... I begged. Luck was on our side that a bunch of friends and family are taking one at the end of March. We will leave on my birthday. We are still working out the details but keep your fingers crossed for us! :-)

As I am said...

Loved the makeshift diaper. Sooo creative!!!!

Naff News said...

My daughter is Stellan's age and cutting the onesie off that served as victim of a diaper blowout is ingenious! Can't believe that never occured to me- you better believe I'm going to remember that in the future!

Jess said...

You crack me up MckMama! I love the diaper on Small Fry! You are so clever. I also love Small Fry’s braids. How do you get her to sit still while you do that? I have a daughter that just turned 1 in December and both my husband and I are very excited to put a pony in her hair. She doesn’t have enough hair yet but she’s getting close! And I don’t think she’d sit still long enough to get one in! Poor Nuggy, he looks like he lost his favorite toy in that picture. Hopefully he didn’t get too upset over his spilled milk. Your kids are so darn cute! Thanks MckMama!

Lindsay said...

how on earth did you get her to sit still long enough to braid her hair?!? It's too cute.

Issas Crazy World said...

After thinking about it for weeks, i finally joined in.

The little teeny braids? Might be the cutest think in the world.

Donnetta said...

LOVE the diaper - much like everyone else. Quick, creative thinking!
