You can truly do almost anything while babywearing.

UPDATED:

"I deliver for you." I may not be the U.S. Postal Service, but I do deliver.

When you guys ask in droves, that is. So, what the heck is a Miracle Blanket and why on earth do I keep talking about it!? Shame on me for thinking all of you would know. Miracle Blanket is just such a common phrase in our home, so I never bothered to explain, back when Small Fry slept in one, and again when MckMuffin received in her hand-me-down blanket.

But enough of you have now asked, that I am compelled to explain this great invention here on my blog once and for all to save my inbox from imploding more than happy to share about this great bit of baby gear.

A Miracle Blanket is a swaddling blanket that has these awesome interior flaps and a pouch thingy for the baby's feet, in addition to a long flap for wrapping around the entire baby that works miracles! Prince Charming lovingly nicknamed it the baby straightjacket.

When MckMuffin is fussy in the evening and nothing else works, we wrap him up in that and he's at peace! And don't even get me started on how it helped Small Fry and MckMuffin (I didn't know about it for our first two babies. The shame.) fall asleep and stay asleep. There are times when Stellan needs no extra assistance from me at all to fall asleep on his own when he's swaddled in his Miracle Blanket. Not even his pacifier! I tell you, that's why I flipped out when we left ours at the hospital! And babies tend to stay asleep very well in the blankets, too, because they cannot wiggle their arms out of the swaddle and startle themselves awake.

It's genius, and my only regret is that I didn't invent it.

I put Miracle Blanket's banner on my blog (It's directly above this post. See it?) and I'll keep it up for a few days. If you click on it, you can head over to their website and see an awesome video showing just how the Miracle Blanket works.

(The Miracle Blanket folks aren't tying me down and making me say this! They don't even know I'm posting this! But, a few of you did contact the folks directly at Miracle Blanket for me and they, in turn, contacted me and are sending our little miracle boy a brand new Miracle Blanket as a gift. Awwww.)

Whew. And someone is going to need to swaddle me in a Miracle Blanket pretty soon to hold down my arms and legs from the thrashing and kicking and flailing about that picking a winner from amongst the awesome entries in yesterday's contest have brought me to. Choosing is hard! But I will, soon enough, and the next time you hear from me, it will be to announce my pick for the winning caption. And I'll try to refrain from using the words Miracle Blanket again for a while. Even my eyes are starting to bug out with typing it so much!

ORIGINAL POST:

Look who is tickled pink to be swaddled in a Miracle Blanket again!!

NewMiracleBlanket

It seems that our miracle baby will end up with three Miracle Blankets (one on loan, one used and one new) out of the whole thing. The first arrived today. (Thanks, Megan!) And there were a ton more of you who offered!

------------------------------------------

We'll be at 3 million hits soon. (See the counter on my right sidebar?) If anyone lands right on the 3 millionth hit and gets a photo of it and sends it to me, they'll get a prize! But I won't mention it again, so watch carefully as we inch closer to that big mark. Oh, and maybe I'll give a prize to the person who got closest if I don't hear from the 3 millionth person. If I am feeling generous.

------------------------------------------
I sense that a handful of new readers have come on board recently. (Welcome, new readers! Pull up an armchair, grab a cup of hot cocoa and enjoy My Charming Kids.) It seems that there are many who have some of the same questions, so I thought I would take a moment to take care of some business. You know, again.

If you want to know what kind of camera I shoot with, or have any other burning questions on your mind, please check my lower left sidebar where it reads "Have a question? Check here first!" Truly, everything you ever wanted to know about me can be found there. Except for the stuff I don't want you to know. I'm just saying...

Yes, I do get all of your "@MckMama" replies on Twitter. It's true that I can't get them on my cell phone unless I am following you, but I do read them all on my Twitter account under "@replies."

Check out the Blog Frog on my left sidebar. It's fun! If you click on where it says "View the community of MckFriends," you all can chat with and connect with each other and your blogs. That section is all about you guys!! And, remember, when you link to my blog and become a MckFriend, your profile photo and a link to your blog will appear on the Blog Frog widget on my sidebar the first time each day that someone (Whether it be you or someone else.) heads over to my blog using the link on yours.

------------------------------------------

If you read my Tweet earlier this afternoon, then you will have a good idea what Stellan and I were photographing while laying in the snow today.

SleddingPhotoShoot

This photo just goes to show a) what great lengths I'll go to in order to get the right shot, b) that a Miracle Blanket is not only good for swaddling, but also makes great stuffing between a baby and winter air and c) that you can truly do almost anything while babywearing.

Photographs of what we were shooting coming soon! Again, you know, as soon as I plow through all of your contest entries and pick a winning caption!

Amen to doing it all while babywearing! I would be lost without my Moby. Wish I had known with my older daughter. Just swinging by to say hello and glad Stellan is a happy kiddo once again. He's handsome as ever!

FYI I thought I was dreaming that I actually had the first comment here. I am never first, at anything, ever! Whoooo! I am usually in like the 200's here, lol. Okay, I am done being totally lame now! Carry on. Nothing to see here...

What IS a miracle blanket? Must share with us!

I, too, want to know, and so am asking again, what is a Miracle Blanket? How are they different from any other blanket. There must be some magic inside???

And so totally jealous that you can put SF's hair in any sort of pony tail. Neither of my two girls will stand it for more than about 30 mins. and usually it's more like 10.

How sweet!! Great addition to the many things you can do while babywearing! My first this week...Going to the restroom! I got several "how's that gonna work" as I walked into the restroom at Target!

I have been a reader for some time but don't think I've commented before. I'm so glad to see Stellan home and healthy again.

I am also inspired to give Babywearing a try! I had twins the first time and didn't give it much thought then, but my twins are only two now and a new baby is about to be born (less than a week now!), so I am giving it a try to see how it works for our lil one and still allow me to be active and hands on with my other two.

I Love Stellan's smile, all wrapped up in his miracle blanket! We used the Swaddle Me wraps for our twins but never seen this version with the inside wraps, too. Neat!

What a handsome smiling young man! With dimples, too! :~)

As for the laying on the ground getting pictures, picture, YOU GO GIRL! Makes me cold just looking at you. Baby Stellan looks perfectly content though. :~)

Have a blessed 2009!

Stellan is just too cute for words. SO glad he is home, healthy, and happy!!
I'm so jealous of the snow...I live in NC where we usually get at least one good snow a year but it's been in the 50's and 60's this winter. NOT cool. So I'm living vicariously through you this winter. Can't wait to see the pictures!!
Blessings.

Queen Mommy said...

Tee hee! I've done some of the same things all in the name of getting a good picture. Several times it's been with my 4 y/o on my back (due to Lily's gross motor delays, she has a hard time walking over uneven surfaces, so I usually have to carry her when we go hiking), and a few times with my nephew.

Sledding sounds like fun! My husband took two of the girls out playing in the snow the other night (Lily was out cold and wouldn't wake up). I, of course, had hot cocoa waiting for when they came in.

Can't wait to see your pics!

Let me know if you'd be interested in prearranging a marriage ;)I think Naomi would like having an older man.

I love Stellan's sweet grin! wow, that miracle blanket does make a difference! I am truly impressed at how dedicated you are at baby wearing. I have given it a shot with both my girls and have never been comfortable doing it. I've always been to short and round(ahem) and my babies too big for my back. I do have back problems so I guess I'll just blame it on that instead of lack of the willingness to keep trying babywearing :o) But,man, am I dedicated stroller user!

So glad Stellan is felling in the pink again.
Wonderful news and - as always - great photos.
But gosh, weren't your hands freezing cold?
I walked the dog this morning without my gloves and though thermometers here are reading no less than 7,5ºC I could swear my fingers were losing mobility by the second.
PS - Small Fry's photos are so adorable and cute and funny. She must be such a lively, bubbly little girl and a joy to be around. As the rest of the Mck-brood. Thanks for sharing your lovely family with us.

I have heard you mention the miracle blanket a few times, but I finally checked it out. I have used swaddlers before, but hated the velcro...so this is ingenious!!! Thanks for the product shout-out and I can't wait to grab one of my own for the baby we are expecting in June!!

I just reswaddled my 7 month, 2 week old last night in an effort to get him to sleep a little longer than 45 minutes at a stretch. Success for the first part of the evening! I too use Miracle Blankets. At what age do you think swaddling should end? Or is it just when baby is ready?

Love baby wearing! I don't get enough opportunity to do so as I WOHM.

ok, I just googled "miracle blanket" and came up with
http://www.miracleblanket.com/index.htm
Looks like an amazing product. We swaddled our babies and it did help, but was never as "miraculous" as the website describes (sleeping thru the night qickly!) We grow 'em big here, and the babies could always get out of the blankets we used for swaddling. Keeping arms still would have been a great thing!!

HI!! I just wanted to ask you a question. My Niece is almost 4 months old, and the only way she sleeps at night, is if she is swaddled, in one of those cheaper forms of the Miracle Blanket. How long do you think we should keep her swaddeled? I have read in a few places that it prevents babies from learning to roll over. What do you think? How long did you swaddel kids? Thanks for sharing so much. Love your blog!

I love our miracle blanket too... .my best friend gave me hers when she finished with it and I used it for my second one. I had seen them online before and thought it sounded great but was too cheap to actually consider buying one. But after using the hand me down one I had no hesitation buying one for my sweet girl this time - don't tell, but it was her Christmas present :-) TOTALLY worth the money!

Jennifer said...

Oh and in response to someone else...... I swaddled my second for 9 months! Till he could roll over swaddled. Then I stopped - we had no problem transitioning without it, which is what I was afraid of :-)

Mmmmm...we just had chips and salsa today for lunch actually. I found the best salsa at Trader Joes the other night. It's my new favorite (their "salsa autentica" in a jar). So far it's the only one I've found that tastes like authentic Mexican restaurant salsa, smoother than most, somewhat spicy, but not too much, and extremely flavorful! Finally! A salsa I actually like eating, and I didn't have to make it!! LOL

BTW, I actually had to look up what a Miracle Blanket was too. Apparently I'm totally out of the baby loop!

One more thing about the perfection of a "MckMiracle Blanket" ad: any proceeds generated could be donated to one of those wonderful charities that you support. OR, the Miracle blanket folks could donate Miracle blankets to families who could really use them, in MckMiracle MckMuffin's name... how cool would that be? I'm just visualizing here.... can't quite get my brain away from it.

Amanda said...

I had to check out this Miracle Blanket when you mentioned it and I saw a video demonstration. As soon as I saw the woman wrapping up her kid's arms in the thing, I knew it would not be a miracle for us! We had something similar, it didn't even make it out of the box. This type of blanket would cause much MUCH suffering for all parties involved in our house. Both of my kids HATED having their arms tied down. We'd swaddle them in the hospital just like we were shown, showed, I guess it's shown, and we were told it would calm them immediately and make the feel safe and secure and they'd go right to sleep and my husband or I would do it thinking they'll be so happy. YEAH RIGHT!! This is not a good blanket for those who have children who do not like to be confined :o). I laugh at how different each of us are and what some swear by, others swear at LOL.

I wish they'd had those when my four were babies! They all loved to be swaddled...we called them baby burritos. I tell everyone who says their baby won't sleep to swaddle! It is that startle reflex that wakes them up everytime...and just not feeling safe and warm and cozy! I can't wait for my next friend to have a baby so I can get them one!
Always praying for your family...thank you for allowing us a window into your life. Your honesty and love for Jesus is so refreshing.

ok...so I have been swaddling my little guy in a swaddler. I am sure you know what it is. It was a struggle every time I went to put him in it cause I had to line the velcro up and by the time that I got that done...his arms were out again! Uggg..so after the MANY miracle blanket (lol and I thought in the very beginning that a miracle blanket was just something that someone made for stellan cause he was a miracle) post...I ordered one online. Got it today and AHHHHH the angels are singing. That is SOOO much easier and I did not even have to assist the little guy in going to sleep tonight. He loved it and yes PC my hubby calls it a straight jacket too! HA HA You deserve that Miracle blanket girl...you saved my night time sleep!

AAAHHH! I have had your page up since early yesterday morning (more than 36 hours) refreshing it occasionally, watching constantly to see the 3,000,000 mark. Just now, the number was 300 away and my very next click on the screen it was 47 past!!! I took a picture of it anyways in case no one else gets any closer. I can send it to you if those other 46 people didn't take a picture. Stinkin'!!!

MckMama I love following your blog and have found so much useful information from it. I just got the miracle blanket for my 11 week old and he loves it! I am a babywearer too but I love to wear him in a babyhawk carrier. If you haven't heard of them check it out. I couldn't live without it. Thanks so much for sharing your life with us. God bless your MSC they are all precious.
