Not Me! Monday...new rules, read carefully!!

UPDATED:
Didn't mean to make you guys shake in your boots with the new rules, honest! You're doing a great job! However, ! I have FURTHER edited rule #1 below. (Don't worry about following it perfectly today...I'll post these again next week.) to include a code box (Many thanks, Brent, for making it for me!!!) for those of you who have been stymied as to what the heck I mean by "link back to me." All you have to do is copy what's in the box and paste it into your own blog post. Easy peasy!! But keep reading...it will make more sense when I explain it down there in the post. Just wanted to add an update so you'd all see it!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday, where we can be brutally honest with each other, and live to tell about it, while we shroud the severity of our statements by pretending we so did not really do them!

For example, I so did not take take a sip of breastmilk out of a bottle this week, to make sure that the bottle in question was, in fact, MckMuffin's (breastmilk) and not Small Fry's (cow's milk). Not me!!

Oh, and yesterday at church, MckMuffin did not blow out a shot heard 'round the sanctuary in his diaper, causing riotous laughter and giggling to erupt from the pews on all sides of us.

And, no matter what anyone tells you, I am a true woman of the frozen tundra and therefore I was not even the teeniest bit nervous as we drove out on the frozen lake yesterday, even when our navigation display pinpointed our truck's location like this:

VillageOnIce13

Not me!

Would you like to play along and share what you did not do this week!? Would you like your blog's link on my blog so lots of MckTraffic can wander over your way?

If so, then you must follow these new and improved rules. A few things have gotten out of whack and I am trying to get them back in whack.

Oh, brother.

Just read carefully, okay?

Here is what you need to do:

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Include, somewhere in your post, a sentence about Not Me! Monday and link to my blog. If you aren't sure how, you can simply copy and paste the following HTML code (everything that is in the white box below) into your post:

  2. This second step is optional. Grab the Not Me! Monday button by copying the code for the button from my left sidebar and pasting it into your post.

  3. Complete your post by writing your own Not Me's!

  4. Use the Mr. Linky form below to enter your name or your blog's name and a link directly to your Not Me! post. Please keep the name used to describe your blog SHORT. You do not need to type in the entire URL of your blog in the name section. Please use spaces between words and characters. This helps insure that Mr. Linky will function properly.

Because of issues we've encountered with Mr. Linky not working properly, I will have to delete your link if it wasn't done correctly. If your link disappears, you are more than welcome to try again, but you will have lost your spot in line and will have to link at the bottom of the list.

Enjoy all the Not Me! fun today!! And don't go drinking any breastmilk. Just take my word for it. It tastes like bitter dish soap.

Hmmm...is it just me, or is Mr. Linky missing?? As for tasting breastmilk, I did *not* give the 2-year-old her brother's leftover rice cereal so as not to waste liquid gold. She did not love it. either.

I did not do one single thing worth Not Me-ing this week. Nope, not me! And I do not believe that it is my favorite blog to work on ALL week in preparation for its debut each Monday. What a GREAT idea you had when you invented this little carnival.

Thankfully I have not tasted my own breast milk! My girls all tasted it (they were not nursed) and my son LOVES it! LOL!
The only person who tasted mine was an old neighbor and my son had regurgitated it in to her mouth! YUCK! the poor thing... gotta think about my not me's!

Hey MckMama! I accidentally posted my name without a link at first in the number 8 spot and i can't delete it. Feel free to delete it if you'd like. Thanks for hosting this each week, I really enjoy it!

Yes, I'd totally freak (on the inside of course) about seeing our truck drive over any large body of water. I don't know how calm I'd be.

Happy Monday! : )

I don't know what's so hard about this whole linking thing, but I also messed mine up! :( Sorry. I didn't look carefully enough at my link, and then I tried to add my name again. I was going to apologize as possibly being the one who made Mister Linky go away, but I see in the comments that several other people also accidentally messed up their links too.

By the way, I wouldn't try breastmilk, but I almost tried some of my kids' pink amoxicillin. :)

I'm so sorry Mckmama, I don't know how to do a link and my 2 year old won't give me the time to find out. I really tried to follow the rules. I also apologize for the whining on my post. I so did NOT stalk your blog all morning waitig for your NMM to post.
And I would NOT EVER (really not, not like NMM not) be brave enough to go driving on a lake with my kids in a vehicle, just because I am totally hyper paranoid about water and witht he birth of each kid its been magnified!

Hope I did everything 'by the rules'. I'm still new at this stuff, but think I may have figured it out okay. And we haven't even had a frozen pond in years...much less a lake! We're supposed to get some snow flurries tonight(slight chance)and my kids are so excited. Unfortunately they'll probably be dissapointed again. Looks like we're just gonna have to take a northern vacation! Laughing at the breastmilk thing...it does taste awful. And so does goat's milk, which is what my son drinks. Happy Monday!

Good Gravy! It went from #42 to #183 in about 30 minutes!

There would have been a "little blue pill" involved had I been over 2 ft of ice in a truck...I sorta have a weird "thing" about kinda liking my feet to be on SOLID ground....airplanes, iced over lakes...yep, little blue pill!

Fabulous shots by the way! The sky was gorgeous! And so very interesting to someone that has never seen ice fishing houses except for in the movie "Snow Dogs" I think...I seriously need to get out more huh?

Oh, and I am shamelessly gonna "plug" my blog to you this time...even though I know you read all your comments and NMM's in your "frozen tundra extra hour in the day"...because there is a really really powerful video that I just know you will love if you haven't already fallen victim to it's snot inducing powers! ;-)

There are folders in my favorites tab pertaining to blogs. One is: Daily Blogs. This file presently holds a list of seven blogs that I want to check on daily; yours is one of them. I also have a Weekly Blog folder and one labeled New Additions. Bloggers sometimes move between weekly & daily, but always start in New Additions until I see if it is really interesting enough to follow.

My current Daily Blog list is as follows:

1. The Mouro Family http://themourofamily.blogspot.com/
2. Storing up Treasures in Heaven http://storinguptreasuresinheaven.blogspot.com/
3. Small Things with Great Love http://eversosmall.blogspot.com/
4. My Charming Kids http://www.mycharmingkids.net/
5. Meandering-Through No Longer http://meandering-thru.blogspot.com/
6. New Kind of Normal http://newkindofnormal.blogspot.com/
7. I’m Especially Fond of You http://emmadunnam.blogspot.com/

I know one of you personally. Several of you know each other personally and/or follow each others blogs. Perhaps some of you don’t know each other at all, but would like to meet.

Why do I enjoy reading your blogs? Chances are you have children (maybe many). God has given me a passion for his precious little ones. Some of you are photographers. I’ve recently developed a keen interest in becoming a better photographer. Maybe you’ve suffered a miscarriage or lost a child. One of my daughters has suffered greatly with this issue. Another passion of mine is learning all I can about Autism. I do respite care for kids with Autism Spectrum & similar disorders. To my knowledge you are all Christians. I am on this walk with you. You are all awesome at blogging. Which is what I aspire to become.

Please check out my blog at http://reinventingdorsey.blogspot.com/ and leave me some comments, advice, or share information that would be helpful in learning how to create a great blog site. Many thanks in advance and kudos to each of you!!!

I started reading my first blog in November of 2007 and now a year later I try to keep up with a couple dozen and have started my own. It’s a great way to keep distant friends and relatives connected, a challenging learning experience and it’s addicting.

Be sure to read how my blog got its name (my very first entry) and don’t miss my one and only video (also a first for me, entitled Be My Little Sugar). It’s guaranteed to make you smile. Keep up the good work girls and I hope to see you on my blog.

Oh! Almost forgot to add, that I’m about to get a facelift --- for my blog that is; from a Blog for a Cause. Gee where did I find that information? On one of your blogs, of course.

Hi MacMama. First of all, I love reading your blog! It is always entertaining, educational, and just so REAL! I've also enjoyed your photography lessons and have messaround with my camera some after reading your ISO lesson. You wanted suggestions for things to teach about in your next little lesson, and I am wondering if you can tell us how you got some of those pictures from your Sunday Drive to be darker around the edges and so bright in the middle. Those picture - as well as ALL of your pictures - are great!

Have a fantastic week MckMama!

Oh my gosh, I can't believe how many people take part in this. I'll never get through them all. It'll be fun trying though. :-)

You tried breastmilk, I always wanted to just to see but always chickened out. After the way you described it now I am glad I didn't :-)

Sheelagh said...

I did it! i tried Not Me Monday for the first time. Thanks for the fun idea and the inspiration for something new. You're blog is great!

Bitter dish soap? I thought it tasted kind of sweet. Not that I've ever tasted it or anything.

The link that you posted does not work because it was linked to www.mycharmingkids.nether ...Just an FYI for next week...

Well, I just tried again..although I didn't do anything any differently than the first time other than add the code from the box. If it's wrong..not sure how to make it right!

Thank you. Try not to scream either. :-)

We got a GPS for Christmas and I would probably need a change of pants if I saw that on my screen. LOL, that's crazy!!
I can totally imagine the scene at church.
As always, I enjoyed your list!

OH MY GOSH! When I saw the map image of you on the lake, my stomach got that split-second free-fall feeling. Yikes. :)

I LOVE your Not Me Mondays! They seriously brighten my week! But, this actually has nothing to do with that. My 6 month old has had a persistent diaper rash for about 4 weeks now. The doctor said today that it is chemical and most likely from the dyes in the diapers (Pampers.) I recently read your post on using cloth diapers and that disposables have chlorine in them (yuck!) I'm sure I'm a terrible mother since I didn't even know that! Anyway, if you have the time, my question to you is do you know of a disposable diaper that is chlorine and dye free? I am a working mother and have to use disposables. I have found several saying they are chlorine free but it doesn't say anywhere for sure if they have dyes or not. Thoughts?
Also, do you have a favorite car seat? Our not so little one is just over 20lbs. and 28 1/2 in. so we are going to need a new one pretty soon.
I realize you can't respond to every single person that comments or asks a question so I'm NOT offended if you don't get to this. :) Just wanted you to know I appreciate all you share and I have just started getting into photography (having a kid will do that to you) so I LOVE all the photography lessons!
Thanks! ~Brittney

I can't get over the GPS map!! That's CRAZINESS!

By the way, I love your blog! This was my first time to participate in the Not Me! Monday but I've been contemplating doing it for quite a while. I must say, it was a lot of fun!

Natalie said...

Thanks for another great Not me! Monday!!!

This week I'm gonna try one of my own!

Abbey said...

Hmmm. I thought breastmilk tasted more like melted vanilla icecream. I so didn't pump into a water bottle and stick it in a cooler and then while driving, grab the breastmilk, take a big chug, and realize it was NOT water:)

Pam said...

Gonna give this a try 'cause I did something today (Monday) that I cannot believe I did... but not sure if I have the savvy to do all the linky thingy stuff (that is the technical term for it, right?) and/or the copy/pastey thingy so here goes. Thanks for such a fun idea!

Anonymous said...

I agree that it seems a bit ridiculous that your REQUIRE that people link back to your blog. Self absorbed much? What would be the point except to increase the traffic/readership on your blog?

The Riggs Family said...

Great GPS picture and I have to agree with you about the breastmilk. I had to taste some to make sure it hadn't gone bad once. It was pretty gross. Yet my baby girl loves to chug it.

Gena said...

I've only tasted breastmilk on accident! You know when the sprayer just gets out of control!

The Burk Family said...

I would have to agree with blogger Abbey on this one! Breast milk has a very sweet taste. At least that's what my husband tells me.

If you are resisting the urge to scream because of massive stress related issues due to the fun of parenting, try screaming into a pillow. That always seems to work for me, the mother of five ages 2,3,6,8,9 :)

LOVE your NMMs! My 6 year old is admiring your snow and ice. She is sooo jealous she can't stand it. She asked if we could take a vacation there where MckMama and her MSC live. She is also a follower of your blog and LOVES to look at the MSC pictures! She was amazed that you could drive on a frozen lake... LOL We are "supposed" to get 1/2 inch of snow tonight (which more than likely will not happen) and she is excited to say the least... She thinks she will be able to build a snowman!!! LOL She will be super disappointed in the morning! :)

Mrs. Gutierrez said...

Ok, sorry I spoke so soon. My problem earlier was that my work computer blocks the linky part of the post.
Anyway, it worked and I'm all linked up now.

I love the Anonymous comment above. I suppose one is allowed to be self absorbed on one's own blog, eh? :)

Breastmilk works really well as cream in coffee. Don't ask me how I know. :D

So I posted my "not me's" here because I couldn't invite ya'all over to my blog. But I started a new blog and by golly, I'll be in with the linky madness next week! But for now. . .

I did NOT have anything really juicy or gory to post today. And I am NOT lying. Actually, it was a pretty mellow week.

Except for Thursday. . .when the kids and I did NOT spend two hours during school time to clean the house. Laundry. Sweeping the kitchen floor. Vacuuming the living room. Folding laundry. Putting said folded laundry into appropriate dresser drawers. Mopping the kitchen floor. All that because we were expecting one adult friend and three kid friends to come play. Because I am NOT one to try to keep us appearances, right?

I did NOT, on the heels of the exhilarating clean-up day, call to invite two adult friends and two kid friends to dinner the same day as the play date. Just because the house was cleaned and we needed to get the most mileage out of the cleaning day. After all, I clean the house for my family right? Not just special occasions? Yeah, I definitely do NOT do that.

I did NOT have a bit of a frustration, not one little bit, when the one adult friend called to cancel the play date on accounta’ because of a sick child. I also did NOT feel a bit like we had wasted our time on Thrusday. No sirree, that was definitely NOT me! It’s ok to have a clean house for the hubby and children, I do NOT need to have an “excuse” to clean the house

I also did NOT send my son to bed last night wearing his clothes because he had no jammies to wear! I have been keeping up with the laundry of late, unlike last year. There was NO WAY he searched through the pile of clean clothes in the baby's room and in the dryer and came up empty handed!

Whatever. I’ve gotta go get some laundry switched over.

Why do people who read your blog have to be so rude about you wanting us to link back? Why don't the anonymous readers who criticize you just come forward with their name and face. Or better yet quit reading your blog because yes they are increasing your traffic to your blog.

I really enjoy reading your blog and I feel honored to be able to link back to you!

so, i don't have enough to say to write a whole blog about it, but ...
I am NOT going to sleep with my pajamas on backwards tonight because I have NOT been told this will make it snow in the morning! I am NOT a girl from the south just wanting to see that white stuff that covers the ground in winter up north!

Speaking of breast milk, I tandem nursed when my son was three and my daughter was a baby. He use to tell her that he got the good stuff, while she got the left over.

MckMama~ I really love your blog, and I feel awful criticizing you because it's your blog and you're allowed to do what you'd like, but I have a bone to pick with you about these new rules. I just don't understand why you would add that first rule. Don't you think that enough people were already linking to you? Do you really need to force everyone to link to you in that one specific way? In the past, I have linked to you through the big orange NMM picture. I highly doubt anyone missed the big orange picture. I understand your reasoning for linking back to your blog, but don't you think it's a little much to even go ahead and give one specific sentence that everyone should use?! I think people should be able to choose how they link to you. Sorry to make this so long, but this just really rubbed me the wrong way, and I wanted to share my opinion with you.

Thanks for the Not Me laughs! Too funny! I really do adore your blog and what I'm about to say doesn't change that. I tend to agree with Jennifer. I'm curious as to why you added that first rule. In the original rules, you already stated that you would like for us to link back to your blog "via words directly in our post, or by linking via your Not Me! button in our post." That did not seem strange to me, as I have no problem linking back to you. I just don't understand why it needs to be so specific all of a sudden. It kind of rubbed me the wrong way, too. It's your blog, though. You can tell us to do whatever you want for us to do. I'm sure that you have your reasons. I'm just a little curious. That's all.

Still love reading your blog everyday. It is awesome to see that PC is aslo contributing. What a great FAMILY...How about another I HATE TO COOK post?? BTW, I made your Beer bread tonight, yummy! One question though, when it comes to your wheatberry, what kind are you buying and where? Mine don't open up like yours, even after much cooking, they are still tasty though....Thanks Again

You're always so funny and real! We actually had a (sort of) similar experience to your frozen lake driving, when my family and I were in Galveston, Texas last may and we went took our car on a fairy to a different peninsula and our GPS showed us diving in the ocean... something so wrong about that...

Scared us away with the new and updated rules??? I doubt it. It looks like the carnival grows bigger each week. I love seeing the numbers get over 400. When I joined it was just barely not hitting 300. Here's to reaching 500 soon!!!

I was up at midnight, 3am, 6am, and 8am trying to link to Not Me Monday.........so not like you to post so late and I wanted so badly to not be so low on the totem pole! HA! Anyway, thanks, as always, for sharing!!

MckMama,

First things first. You are amazing! So creative, intelligent, thoughtful, imaginative, and loving. If I, a complete stranger, can notice these things through your blog, I can't even imagine what it'd be like to actually know you! How blessed you are.

I'm what you can call a "blog creeper". Not literally, but there's nothing I love more than browsing through other people's blogs and learning about other people in this crazy world. You see, I'm just a nineteen year old girl who daydreams of marrying the man of my dreams and sharing a life with him full of children and love, love, love.

I have a lot of respect for you for doing this blog. It is an amazing thing and gives measley people like me some hope. Please keep doing what you're doing. It's truly awesome.

Hi,
I love your Not Me Mondays and have copy and pasted the link information (that is great because I have no clue how to link to someone's post), but I can't figure out the Mr Linky. It says to go to it "below" but I can't see it, what am I missing?
Love your blog and your kids are adorable!!!

I miss Mr. Linky. He seems to be a bit off today... Or is it me??

Well, I looked through the comment section to participate in the Not Me List. That works, too! Hope you guys jump into my blog and read my list. It's always fun to share...

Blessings,
Jess

I'm just a bit curious to see if it's just me or everyone particiating in NMM!!!

First... How in the world do you recall such events to make up your Not ME Monday posts????

Secondly, to beat the first point, do you start making the NMM posts immediately to continue adding to but not submitting until the appropriate day???

Thirdly... Am I just being way too technical and over thinking such a task or is there really more involved than I'm wrapping my brain around??? OR... Perhaps it's still way early for me today!

I'd love to participate but can't think of anything (and no, that's not becuase my week was uneventful but becuase my young brain memory is just that bad!)

K. Thanks!
