It really is time to take our Christmas tree down. Yet, it's still up. I haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet. I don't want to let go of Christmas!
So, I figured I'd start small. Remove my Christmas blog header, replace it with a new header. (Don't you love the kids' t-shirts? I can take no credit. Kristin had them made and sent to us!!
I feel better now that I de-Christmas-tized my blog.
Well, not that much better. Maybe I'll tackle the tree tomorrow. Or the next day.

I sat on a chair while nursing MckMuffin (who was under a blanket) in public yesterday.
Approaching man, politely enough: "Oh, have you been following the big debate on Facebook about breastfeeding in public?"
Me, politely enough: "Nope."
And that was the end of that conversation.

What's a blog to do? When 3 million hits is fast approaching and all of you lovely wolverine-esque readers are refreshing your screens at a frenzied pace!? It was bound to happen. My poor blog couldn't keep up and two gals simultaneously landed on the 3 million mark today, both with photos to prove it!
Congrats to Vicki and Dawn!! I am going to send some children's videos your way, so please email me with your home addresses!!
Thanks to everyone else who emailed me their photos and stories. There were others of you who got so close, too. And then there were those of you who stepped away to change the cat litter, feed your kids dinner, answer the door, or go to the bathroom for the first time all day and you missed 3 million. And you shared your story of missing it with me.
I feel your pain. I myself totally forgot we'd hit 3 million today and I didn't check the counter even one time until the emails started rolling in that 3 million had already been reached.
Man, I'm glad at least someone is paying attention around here. Because it sure ain't me. I've been too busy trying to photograph our MSC for their new blog photos and eating Nutella by the spoonful today to notice much else.

I only have my Christmas decorations down for two reasons:
1. We didn't put up a lot this year, due to a mobile and curious 14 month old.
2. I'm due any day now with baby #2 and I keep cleaning the house, doing laundry, making extra food, grocery shopping, and then the baby doesn't come. And then it all has to be done again a couple of days later.

Don't fret about getting the Christmas decos down. Our tree was defrocked the weekend after Christmas and a great portion of the ornaments are still covering our dining room table.
You know, all the delicate ones that have to be individually wrapped and packaged back up so that they don't get broken when your fed-up spouse SHOVES the heavy containers back up through the tight squeeze attic door while teetering on a 6 ft step ladder!
Well, with all the traveling and "hospital"ing you did, you need to take time to enjoy it before it gets dragged back out of the house.
BTW, I just gotta tell ya how much I look forward to seeing what's happening with y'all everyday. I think I'm addicted to the MckFamily! Is that a bad thing to admit? To the whole world, that is? Surely I'm not alone!

Maybe someone else has already pointed this out, but did you do the math? You hit 2,000,000 hits on November 25. You hit 3,000,000 hits on January 8, a mere 44 days later. That means you are averaging 22,727 hits PER DAY. Wow. What an amazing way to be sharing your faith through the simple, common thing of having small children. Isn't God great!?!

Thought about you today...My MSC are now 9,7,5 and 2(3 in Feb) That is 3rd, 2nd, K and preschool but anyway, when I loaded my suburban at the local elementary school the teacher gave me a standing ovation. :)

I love your blog, MckMama, I really do. Maybe I'm just sensitive, maybe I'm just missing the humor, but I find it a little offensive that you call your loyal readers, who love and adore you, "wolverine-esque." Okay the new header is the most adorable thing I have ever seen. Your children are BEAUTIFUL. Stellan thankfully is looking much better. BTW, I don't see what the big deal is about breastfeeding in public as long as you have a blanket covering the breast. It's the way babies should be fed, the natural way. We just took our tree down today! It was so droopy that the ornaments were falling off! We keep it up for "the twelve days of Christmas", or until we're afraid it'll catch on fire!
If I am ever able to have kids when I grow up, I swear I'm going to make special effort to be in public every time I breastfeed just to make my point! Way-to-go!
Oh, and guess what I managed to do? I lost my camera battery charger! It never left my purse (or so I thought), yet here I am waiting for the second-hand replacement to get here, unable to take a picture of the droopy tree with the ornaments on the ground! *sigh*, what's a photographer-in-training to do? LOL

Congrats on being the most popular blog ever! Don't know what it is like to be a breasfeeding mother in the USA, but I know that in Ireland anyone who breastfeeds in puplic is stared at (or coyly avoided). This obviously makes it seem shameful and I am one of the only people I know to have breastfed all my babies for a year. We moved to Switzerland 3 years ago and baby number 3 was born here, and wow what a difference!!!! In the hosital it was never even suggested that I might bottle feed. Breastfeeding is everywhere! It is perfectly acceptable and totally respected! Such a wonderfully comfortable expereince compared with being home in Ireland - what's it like in America?

I feel like a blog is a persons personal space to write what they want. If you want to be sarcastic or witty or tongue-in-cheek...it is your right to do so. I actually like you more because of your honesty. If I had 1 million hits in just a month and a half I would feel slightly stalked. People refreshing their screens, thats just creepy. I feel the wolverine comment was about those people refreshing their screens over and over again. Keep saying what you want and if people are offended they know where to find the door!

I have a secret confession. Before stellan was born, a post let me know of Small Fry's name. Then, of course, Mc Muffins name was pretty widely broadcast. One day I decided to go back in your blog and check out old post from before I started following some time in August. I accidently stumbled across Big Mac's name. I have a name fetish. I love coming up with names, dreaming about names, hearing new names. When my friend decided not to find out the sex of her 3rd child, nor problem. She told everyone the names picked out for male and female. During her 4th pregnancy they told everyone the sex but kept the name a secret. It drove me CRAZY! and it drove me nuts I did not know Mc Nuggets name but knew the other MSC's. Today, exploring more old posts, I stumbled across Mc Nuggets real life name. Just so you know, I think they all have very adorable names. But they will still very much be known by their blog names in the for front of my mind : 0 ) I hope I do not sound totally crazy!

YUM....3 million and Nutella! what a great combination! And furthermore, I wanted to share that I too have not taken down my christmas tree or decor! I hang on as long as I can..honesty? Usually until almost February! We always leave our nativity outside for that long~!
I was shopping at Woodman's, the cheapest grocery store around, and also where all teh old people shop. Since I HAD to get the shopping done and I HAD to feed the baby, I nursed whie pulling the cart and shopping. I was fully covered, but you could tell the aha moment on their faces..."Aww, a baby....! While I never, she breastfeeding in public! For shame!"

I LOVE the new header, Stellan looks so good, you would Never guess that little baby had RSV a week ago. So thankful he is a picture of Health! What a Blessing that so many of us out here are getting to witness true Miracles through your precious baby boy.

Your blog counter goes as fast as our electric meter in the winter! When you posted to keep an eye I looked and thought I have a few days before I need to keep a vigil. I can clean house, do laundry and find a place to put the kids so I can keep watch. Well, wrong!!!!!
And by the way the blog header is adorable! I am so envious of all that Small Fry hair! Our version of Small Fry has pitiful little hair!
Here is my thought on taking down Christmas trees: They leave the Rockefeller tree up until this coming Monday, so what's our rush?
Love the new pictures and the T-Shirts!!! How interesting someone would approach you about the FB controversy! I use a Peanut Shell nursing cover really only when I am out with my husband and nursing. If I am on my own, I usually don't bother with it as I find it gets in the way and is usually pulled off by my little munchkin anyway and I have to battle him to keep it over him.
People? Get a life. Seriously.

Love the new header! And as far as the tree, I just took mine down yesterday. Was debating keeping it up until Valentines, but thought people might think me a bit odd... So now, I've got an empty house and the kids' screams seem to echo a bit now. Oh how I miss that tree!
CONGRATULATIONS on hitting the 3 million mark!! I, too, forgot ALL about it, until I noticed the counter was already over it by almost 4,000! Crazy!
My Hubby was an AF brat and grew up in Germany eating his fair share, well, probably MORE than his fair share, of Nutella! Our boys call peanut butter, bo-bo(no idea where that came from), and so Nutella became Daddy's bo-bo! Too cute.
Best wishes on getting your Christmas tree down. I won't tell you whan I FINALLY got mine down in 2007. Needless to say, it was artificial. ;) But I WILL say that if yours' gets down before the end of February, you're probably ahead of me. ;)

I like to leave the Christmas "stuff" up for most of January because otherwise we'd only get to enjoy it for a month! And it seems like too much work to just take it down in a month. :) And my kids LOVE it!

I just posted to my blog and thought that I need a new non Christmas header as well. However, that requires another photo. That means I should really get around to taking some.
I was so one of those "refreshing" the page, you should have seen it. Your numbers were increasing by 10 per second! I actually thought I was gonna do it, but then realized there was still 9000 hits to go and I gave up......but 10 hits per second! Go Mama! people can be so nosy with breast feeding, sometimes, you just wanna be left in your little bit of privacy, especially with a stranger that is male!

Ha! That guy would be completely appalled by me, who frequently pumps in public (completely covered of course!). My preemie wouldn't breastfeed so I exclusively pump and a gal's got to what a gal's got to do to feed her baby!

I had to comment on your mention of Nutella. That was hands down the only thing that I could ever dream of wanting when I nursed my boys. (that and chocolate Chex Mix - I highly recommend that!) I'd have eaten it out of a 5 gallon bucket if it was possible. Not that I wouldn't now, I just don't have the metabolism that nursing gives so I need to consume human sized doses!

I still have my tree up too! It is undecorated though and all the decorations are down and put away in the tubs, but all the tubs are still in my living room around the Christmas tree. Maybe this weekend I will get that put away. Time will tell! Have a great weekend! :)
