'Twas a few nights before Christmas, when all through the MckHouse,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
See no one was home; they were out and about,
Seeking fun and adventure, wearing snow boots, no doubt!
The MckFamily was bundled in Daddy's big rig with care,
In hopes they'd find a nice Christmas tree somewhere.
The babies were nestled both snug in their slings,
When the MckFamily arrived at Z's Tree Farm to unload everything.
And mama in her sweatshirt and daddy in his cap,
Had just set MckNuggey right in jolly Santa's lap!
When out in the tree fields there arose such a clatter,
It was Prince Charming sawing the tree, nothing was the matter!
Away to the tractor they flew like a flash,
And climbed back in and threw up the sash.
Big Zeke drove them back, hauling their tree,
Though no one carried it as well as Prince Charming, you see:
The ride it was bumpy and it jiggled Fry Small,
Then called Santa, "Dash away! Dash away! Dash away, all!"
And dash away did this MckFamily of six,
For now they've a fir tree to add to their mix.
Thank you, Z's trees, you most certainly can bet,
The MckFamily loves their new tree and the gorgeous sunset.
And I heard MckMama sing, as she swaddled Muffin tight,
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!

What a fun way to record a great adventure! We've always gone to Z's early in the day - will have to rethink that next time. You got some great shots there!
(Santa and his Mrs. are the same ones that held BrotherBear as a 2 month old 4 years ago.)
That was an amazing poem! I'm very impressed.
By the way I have never been to a tree farm before until this past thanksgiving while up in NY. It was a great experience and fun time. I so wish my kids got to grow up with traditions like that..... here in Florida I guess we could go cut down a palm tree. LOL

That is too cute! I needed that laugh. Looks like y'all had a fun time. My husband wants to go to a tree farm and get a tree one day. He had to settle for a tree from Lowes this year. It smells just as fresh to me.

Love the poem!!
Just wanted to let you know I can't enter the contest-it says it's already ended. Help!?
That was masterful and wonderful! BRAVO! Well-done! How fun to read on this wintery stormy day : )
That was wonderful! I am VERY impressed to see Small Fry in a sling on PC's back. What a great daddy he is! Dan used to carry Zachie around in the front-pack- it was too cute!
HELP, please ....
I was going to buy another ticket and the chip in says the "event has ended" I see someone else mentioned this above. I will try again later and see if it has been fixed. I would not want the charities to lose out on money.
Loved the tree farm pictures!
Thank you!
Beautiful Sunset!
You are so creative! I love it!

Very cute poem...you are so clever!
I've been lurking on your blog for weeks now and thought i'd comment :)
You're so clever! I love all of your posts..so much fun to read about. Gorgeous kiddos, tree, and sunset!
Yay! Loved the mckpoem. Seriously how long did it take you to come up with that? Oh, and you have to post pics of the decorating AND the end result. :O)
How fun! Great pictures! Thanks for sharing.
MckMama- I have been lurking and praying for your family since before Mr. Stellan made his arrival. I was beginning to think that we lived near each other (the going out on a frozen lake thing). We just moved to such a cold/frozen place from Atlanta, GA. Now that I know you went to Z's Trees, I know we live close. We went to Z's to get a tree as well. There CAN'T be more than one Z's, with a view like that, in this world. Glad to know I am not alone in this "frozen" land. May you and your family have a peaceful and blessed CHRISTmas this year.
You are so GIFTED!!!! What a fun read!

Wow...you are POPULAR! 79 comments! JEE WHIZ! You probably didn't need mine...but I might as well make it an even 80 and let you know that I LOVE your blog. I blurk every so often when I steal a few precious minutes and check it out. This poem is ADORABLE and should totally be framed somewhere in your house! You are one creative woman! I hope you're making money off of this talent you have! (you certainly CAN!)
Fun poem and loved the pictures!
I think I know that tree farm! Is it owned by John Zimmerman? He was my dad's vet many years ago on the farm. He also bought my dad's last tractor for use on his Christmas tree farm. Just wondering if that's the same one. If it is, the world keeps getting smaller!
Your photography is really good, but just wanted to say I REALLY liked the pink sky with the trees.
Oh my Santa! That was brilliant and what an amazing sunset to ride off into! This was our first year doing the tree hunt at a tree farm, what a blast! Thanks for sharing your prose and fantastic pics, as always!
Awesome. Wish I would have thought of that. I, too, enjoy hunting down that perfect tree. We love us some tree farm happiness.
Very creative and entertaining! And that is a gorgeous sunset!
A that was wonderful! (And will be a great post for your book as yet to be published!)
Zeke is such a MN name...wow
The snow and your snowsuits and all just makes me want to run to the equator!
Soo CUTE! You could read it to your kids every night before bed!
