Stellan Update ~ 2:30 p.m.

Update updated ~ 3:30 p.m.
Stellan has been positively diagnosed with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and continues to be in distress. Doctors are likley to sedate and intubate him soon to get oxygen to his lungs more effectively.

Original Update posting
I received an update from Jennifer: Stellan is still having problems with some bouts of breathing difficulty. Doctors have started him on medication to break up the severe congestion that he has and are using suction as needed. Thank you for your prayers.

Mckmama-Make sure that you discuss with Stellan's doctors the need for a drug called Synagis. It is a vaccination for RSV and is only given to high risk infants. My first baby took it for two years because he was a preemie. Now my second was just hospitalized for RSV and he now qualifies for the injections. They are wonderful and will protect his precious body from RSV again!! Praying for you in Alabama.

Father God,
Cover this precious child Stellan in your strength and might. Comfort him in his time of discomfort and bring healing to him in a mighty way, Lord. Bring a peace that transcends all understanding to his parents and siblings and clothe them with Your grace. May the doctors surrounding baby Stellan be filled with wisdom and compassion and may they too be used by You for Your good. Lord, we trust you to be the mighty physician and we so tenderly place Stellan into your care. Thank you for hearing our prayers and never forsaking us. It's in Your holy name that we pray, Amen.

My prayers are with you. My daughter had RSV when she was 3 months old and those 4 days in the ICU were terrifying-no real words to describe it. I felt like I had entered a whole other world. Please take care of yourself as well. I have nursed all of my children and I knew my daughter would pull through...she has always been a fighter even before I held her for the first time -I was very scared about her losing interest in nursing when this was all said and done and or my milk supply dwindling. (I latched on to that fear above the fear of her struggling in some ways to protect myself. it is HARD to watch them struggle for every breath.) They gave me a medication to boost supply and I pumped like a mad woman with a hospital grade pump while praying non-stop.
My prayers are with you and Stellan and the physicians/nurses that are caring for you.

Still praying in Tennessee! I know you've been praying hard that Stellan would be able to avoid intubation, but right now, it sounds like he's using all of his energy to breathe.
